Letter 10: Peace is A House You Build

It won't simply fall into your lap.

We must all walk on hot coals

Has life kicked you in the ass? Yeah, same!

However, challenges are a call to battle. And on this battlefield, you would not only need to conquer your external opps, but also your inner demons.

Just as war reveals the limitations of nations, going through personal crises exposes our vulnerabilities and the fears that we carry with us.

Contrary to popular belief, peace is not a magical gift handed to you by a genie in a bottle. It’s not something that simply falls into your lap.

If you crave peace, you are going to have to fight for it!

Peace is a house you build

You begin by clearing the bush. This is confronting your inner demons. Uprooting every negative lie about yourself you’ve accepted as truth. Unmasking deep-rooted pains and healing trauma blows.

You set the foundation by staying close to your source: God, the universe, or Mother Earth. A higher power that you believe in.

You stack the walls with concrete stones like meditation, mindfulness, and self-reflection. This is taking the time to quiet your mind and connect with your inner self.

You reinforce the structure by having a free flow with others. Treating the people around you with kindness and respect, even when you want to smack the shit out of them.

You install windows and doors by opening yourself up to the wonders that are embedded in your path. By creating art, sitting by a lake, soaking in a sea salt bath, or eating cake. Except you’re diabetic, then don’t eat cake.

You decorate the house with love and forgiveness. Love is the cornerstone of peace, and it starts with loving yourself unconditionally. Please release anger; you’re not supposed to hold it forever.

You keep the house standing by taking care of your body. Eat healthy. Get rest.

Before I drop the pen on this, you need to accept that building this house won’t take a day and maintaining it will take a lifetime, but do it anyway. Life is lighter and easier when you live in a house of peace.
